Library Board Meeting 10/17/2023 – Will Vote On Furniture Contract, Table Of Organization Change, And Request To Submit Grant Application

The Library Board is meeting 10/17/2023 at 4:30PM.

Items of note include…

  • A request to award the Appleton Public Library Furniture Contract to Systems Furniture for $184,016.63. In September, the board voted on a $2.5 million allocation to cover furniture and shelving provided by 6 different suppliers. Although Systems Furniture, was listed in the body of memo, it had not been included in the action statement on the agenda. The board is now being asked to vote on this allocation specifically, in order to properly recognize Systems Furniture as a supplier.
  • A Table of Organization Change Request asking to reclassify a position from librarian to library assistant. This will result in annual savings of approximately $10,000.
  • A request to apply for an Outagamie County ARPA Workforce Development Grant in the amount of $668,211.83. If awarded, the library would use this money to fund 2 full time positions for the period of the grant as well as all expenses related to training and travel and would also fund technology, supplies, marketing, and jobs related databases and services.

As information items, the library will be receiving an update on the building project and reviewing upcoming dates related to the 2024 budget adoption process.
