Library Board Meeting 02/27/2024 – Will Receive Some 4th Quarter Reports, Updates On Capital Campaign and Library Project

The Library Board is meeting 02/27/2024 at 5:30PM.

They have a very full agenda.

They will be voting to approve Heartland Business Systems and Faith Technologies to be the library’s E-Rate vendors. Per the memo, “E-rate is a federal reimbursement program for public libraries and schools that funds wiring and equipment for public Internet connectivity. Our reimbursement rate is 60%, based on the free and reduced lunch numbers in our community. We will save approximately $283,000 thanks to e-rate.”

The library selected Heartland Business Systems to work on its networking equipment and Faith Technologies to handle its data wiring.

The board will also be receiving and voting to approve the 2023 annual report, voting to approve the 2024 materials budget, approving updates to the city’s Asbestos Policy and Records Retention Policy, and accepting the Library Director’s 2024 performance goals.

They will also be receiving a number of reports including 4th quarter statistics, 4th quarter summaries of Friends grant funded programs, updates on APL’s hiring process, children’s programming updates, a Capital Campaign update, and a Building Project update.

Although the agenda does not include any supplemental material about this item, staff has bolded/highlighted the fact that the board will receive “Updates on Legislation Regarding Access to Library Materials” [so I’m interested to see what that is about.]
