The Common Council met 05/01/2024. One of the items they separated out for an individual vote was the Liquor License Premise Amendment application from OB’s Brau Haus that was needed to allow them to provide outdoor service during the day on the College Avenue amenity strip.
The discussion was brief and this item was approved by a vote of 13-1.

Although there had initially been some safety concerns regarding allowing outdoor service due, presumably, to the fact that OB’s Brau Haus received 150 demerit points on its alcohol license last year and that block of College has been the location of several incidents of violence recently including a non-fatal shooting in November and a fatal shooting on Christmas Eve, those concerns resolved at the Safety and Licensing Committee meeting on 04/24/2024 when the police indicated they did not have a problem allowing outdoor service during the day given that the ongoing problems related to the night time business.
The item was, however, separated out in order to clarify when the tables and chairs would need to be brought in. On the application, the OB’s owner had indicated that outdoor service would take place from 4PM to 10 PM; however, it was clarified by city staff during the Common Council meeting that the city’s regulations regarding outdoor service on College Avenue required tables and chairs to be brought in at 9:30PM.
Mayor Woodford asked if the item needed to be amended to reflect that, but City Clerk Kami Lynch said she thought it could be handled administratively.
The Council went on to vote 13-1 to approve the premise amendment with Alderperson William Siebers (District 1) casting the dissenting vote.
