Human Resources Information Technology Committee Meeting 10/11/2023 – Will Vote On Pay Increases For City Attorney And Mayor

The Human Resources and Information Technology Committee is meeting 10/11/2023 at 4:30PM.

They have three action items on the agenda.

The first is a request to over hire for a Police Lieutenant position. The Police Department is going to be losing 2-3 supervisors over the next several months. In order to sufficiently staff for adequate patrol supervision, they would like to promote Sergeant Edwards to lieutenant on 12/01/2023 prior to the departure of Captain Frisch on 01/03/2024.

The committee will also be voting on compensation for the City Attorney for the next four years. The current salary is $139,018. Staff would like to increase that by a series of 3% and 2% raises until it reaches $156,511.41 in 2027.

Along with the City Attorney’s compensation, they will be voting on the mayor’s compensation for the next four years. The current salary for the mayor is $106,662 and staff would like to increase it to $120,083.87 in 2027.

Per the memo from Human Resources Director Jay Ratchman, both of these proposed increases would keep Appleton better aligned with other Wisconsin communities

The committee will also receive several information items including information on the city’s health insurance program as well as the Connecting Care Clinic’s move to a new facility.
