Community And Economic Development Committee Meeting 10/11/2023 – Will Vote On $80,000 Neighborhood Grant Request To Improve Columbus Elementary School Playground

The Community and Economic Development Committee is meeting 10/11/2023 at 6:30PM.

There is one action item on the agenda which is a request to approve the Neighborhood Grant Program request from the Historic Central Neighborhood. The Historic Central Neighborhood in partnership with the Appleton Area School District has submitted a request for $80,000 from the Neighborhood Grant Program to add playground equipment and create more green space at Columbus Elementary School. The Columbus playground is used not only by the school but also the surrounding neighborhood, and the Historic Central Neighborhood would like to make the playground safer, utilize the space more fully, and create a community gathering space for the neighborhood.

The Neighborhood Grant Program currently has a balance of $79,999.73 which staff recommends be approved to go toward the request from the Historic Central Neighborhood.

In addition to the action item, the committee will also be reviewing the 2024 Community and Economic Development Department Budget.
