Safety And Licensing Committee Meeting 04/05/2023 – Will Received 2022 Annual Police Department Report

The Safety and Licensing Committee is holding a special meeting on 04/05/2023 at 6:30PM ahead of the 7PM Common Council meeting.

Most of the action items appear to be routine alcohol related applications and temporary premise amendments as well as a secondhand mall/flea license renewal. The committee will also be voting on a request from the Fire Department to apply for a grant through the Capital Credit Union Elevate Communities Program. They would be requesting $13,000 “to acquire a methane gas detector to quantify risk and hazard areas in emergencies.”

The committee will also be receiving the Director’s Reports, information on special events, and the 2022 Police Department Annual Report.

Looking through the report, it appears Thefts/Auto Thefts and Damage to Property calls were up in 2022 compared to the average for the last 4 years. Weapons calls look to be up for the last two years. Sex Crimes, Robbery, Assault/Intimidation, Burglary, and Frauds are all either similar or down somewhat compared to the last four years.
