The Safety and Licensing Committee is meeting 08/14/2024 at 5:30PM.
They will be, once again, taking up the request to not renew the Class B Beer and Class B Liquor license for the Corner Pub due to abandonment. During the last committee meeting, the committee voted 3-2 to extend the deadline to reopen the business until 08/15/2024, but at the Common Council the item was referred back to the committee without receiving a final vote by the Council.
The Corner Pub license issue ties in to other items on the agenda. As of Friday 08/09/2024, Clerk Kami Lynch indicated there were only 2 regular combination Class B Beer and Class B Liquor Licenses available with one of them going to be issued soon. It does appear that there are a number of “reserve” license applications on this agenda which I would take as indicating there are no more regular licenses available. The reserve licenses cost $10,600 as compared to only $600 for a regular license.
One of the reserve license applications is for Mr. Frogs. In July of 2024, a different alcohol license application for Mr. Frogs was withdrawn by the applicant, Julia Nino Gomez, after the committee initially voted to deny the application due to her connection with drug dealers and drug dealing. It would now appear that a new application has been submitted, this time with a different individual, Vanessa Alvarado, listed as the applicant.
In addition to the alcohol license applications, the agenda includes a number of other license applications mainly for Cigarette, Tobacco, and Electronic Vaping Devices.
