Parks And Recreation Committee Approves $95,000 Contract For Playground Equipment In Highview Park – Project Comes In $55,000 Under-Budget

The Parks and Recreation Committee met 04/08/2024. They had one action item on the agenda which was the approve a contract for $95,000 to install playground equipment in Highview Park. This item only took a couple minutes to approve, but I have still included a transcript of the discussion such as it was.

The city had originally budgeted $150,000 for the project, so the committee members were very happy to see it come in at only $95,000. Director of Parks, Recreation, and Facilities Dean Gazza said that when seeking designs for this project, they received responses from all 7 of the companies that they reached out to as opposed to only 2 or 3 which was more common.

After reviewing the proposals, city staff went with a design from Lee Recreation, a company that they have used several times before.
