Municipal Services Committee Approves Street Occupancy Permits For Avenue Of Ice And Fox Commons Project

The Municipal Services Committee met 01/22/2024. At the beginning of the meeting, prior to dealing the 2024 traffic control sole source requests or the 2024 contract for security in the parking ramp, they briefly took up two more easily handled items.

I’ve prepared a transcript of the discussion for download:

They approved without any discussion the request from Appleton Downtown Inc for a street occupancy permit to allow them to hold the Avenue of Ice event on downtown College Avenue the weekend of February 23.

They also unanimously approved a street occupancy permit request from the Boldt Company. They wanted to bag 3 meters on Washington Street between Oneida Street and Appleton Street through 07/01/2024 to help semis be able to access the construction area for the Fox Commons redevelopment project. The meters would be available for parking by the public on Saturdays and Sundays as well as 03/18/2024-03/22/2024 and 03/25/2024-03/29/2024.

The committee confirmed that this would not extend the time that the City Center alley leading to the City Hall finance drive-through window would be closed. Additionally, city staff did not anticipate this causing any problems for the library project going on right across the street.
