Proposed Rental And Fee Schedules For Houdini Plaza And Jones Park Referred Back To Parks And Recreation Committee For Further Discussion

The Common Council met 12/20/2023.

During that meeting, Alderperson Alex Schultz (District 9) requested that both of the Parks and Recreation agenda items be referred back to the committee for further discussion.

The proposed revised Houdini Plaza Rental and Fee Schedule would include a $25 increase in rental fees and the allowing of outdoor propane fire pits for unique circumstances.

The proposed revised Jones Park Rental and Fee Schedule would not include any increase in fees but would allow the use of propane gas cooking equipment within the new outdoor food preparation area.

Both of these items were approved unanimously by the Parks and Recreation Committee with no questions or discussion. Alderperson Schultz is a member of the committee but he had not been able to attend the meeting where the items had been approved. He referred them back because he wanted some input. Additionally, he stated, “That meeting lasted two minutes, and I think anytime we’re reviewing fee increases, some significant fee increases, it’s worth a conversation at committee.”
