The Community and Economic Development Committee is meeting 10/25/2023 at 6:30PM.
The agenda consists of one action item and one related public hearing. The action item is a request to approve the city program funding for the 2024 Community Development Block Grant Funding. City staff is recommending that $40,000 be allocated to the Neighborhood Program, $50,000 for the Appleton Housing Authority, and $100,000 to the Community and Economic Development Department for administrative costs.
[I would assume the Neighborhood Program is the same program that was recently used to fund the Columbus Elementary playground project. Staff had indicated during the committee meeting about the Columbus Elementary grant request, that the city had not received project applications for the program for a number of years, so I would hope that a discussion point would be the value of funding the Neighborhood Program versus directing the funds elsewhere.
I’m also a little surprised to see that administrative costs at $100,000 seem to be higher than the funds made available for programs at $90,000. I hope that that will be discussed a little.]
