The Finance Committee is meeting today, 08/21/2023, at 5:30PM.
They have a number of Waste Water Treatment Plant action items on the agenda including awarding a project, approving a contract amendment, accepting some grants, and approving a balance transfer from one project to another.
They will also be voting on a request to award the Memorial Park Miracle League Filed Resurfacing Project to Kiefer USA for a little under $300,000. The bid for this project had originally been rejected by the committee back in June because it had been significantly over-budget. The expected cost had been $175,000, but the bid was for $319,550. Goodwill, which is paying for 100% of the work being performed, has, apparently, come up with additional funds, and the bid has also come down slightly to $279,000. The Finance Committee is now being asked to approve the contract.
Another Memorial Park/Miracle League Field related item is the request to approve the 2023 ADA Upgrades Project which will include a new asphalt trail from the Miracle Field to the southwest set of ball diamonds by the Jones Building.
The committee will also be voting on a request to approve a grant application to replace various traffic signals in the city. This item will also be appearing before the Municipal Services Committee for a vote.
An item back before the committee is the St. Joseph’s Cemetery reimbursement request for maintenance of Veteran graves. There had been some confusing regarding exactly how much if anything the city would be reimbursing the cemetery, so the item had been referred back to committee so that Finance Director Jeri Ohman had time to research and provide a fuller explanation as to what was going on.
The committee will also receive a number of information items regarding various contracts that have been completed and that have had final payments made.
