Subversive Memery

Now is a good time to remind the people following this Facebook page that there is an actual All Things Appleton website.

As the people lucky enough to catch the two times I accidently posted Epstein Didn’t Kill Himself memes there instead of to my personal Facebook page may have inferred, I like a fun meme.  This however becomes a problem when Facebook has ramped up its “content management” algorithms over the last year and those algorithms have exactly zero sense of humor. The end result is that Facebook just fact checked a meme I posted, removed it, and gave me a demerit for disseminating false and harmful information about Covid 19.

Prior to starting All Things Appleton, I actually served a 3 day stint in Facebook jail for posting what to me appeared to be an innocuous meme but which Facebook took seriously and thought was peddling false Covid 19 cures.

These days I rarely use my personal Facebook page and instead just update All Things Appleton; however, the meme I recently got wrist slapped over was posted nearly a year ago. I have posted over a thousand memes during the last 12 months alone, so if Facebook is now going through old posts checking them for wrongthink I could definitely see a 1, 3, or 7 day suspension in my future.

I’m not sure how a suspension would affect my ability to update the All Things Appleton Facebook page, but, regardless, I do also have an independent website. Since I don’t plan to suspend myself for wrongthink, updates should continue there regardless of what happens on Facebook. I try to post every day, so if you notice a day or two has gone past without any updates, just go to AllThingsAppleton.com to see if there are any updates there.
