The Municipal Services Committee met 08/25/2025. It was a very brief meeting coming in at around 5 minutes. They had three action items on their agenda, two long term temporary occupancy permits and one permanent occupancy permit, all of which were unanimously recommended for approval.
I’ve prepared a transcript of the discussion for download:
LONG TERM TEMPORARY OCCUPANCY PERMIT FOR DUMPSTER IN SUPERIOR STREET THROUGH 12/31/2025 – Copper Leaf Hotel is performing some renovations and needs to place a dumpster in Superior Street from 10/01/2025 through 12/31/2025. The Department of Public Works reviewed the request and approved it administratively for the first 35 days, but they needed committee and Council approval for the remainder of the permit period so that the hotel could keep the dumpster in place through the end of the year.

LONG TERM TEMPORARY STREET OCCUPANCY PERMIT FOR VAULT 202 BREWERY AND TAPHOUSE TABLES AND CHAIRS IN COLLEGE AVENUE AMENITY STRIP – Vault 202 Brewery and Taphouse is the new restaurant located in the old Chase Bank building on the corner of College Avenue and Appleton Street. They want to provide outdoor seating for their patrons on College Avenue. DPW confirmed that they were in compliance with the city’s sidewalk café policy.
PERMANENT OCCUPANCY PERMIT FOR BASEMENT OF BUILDING WITHIN JOHNSTON STREET ALLEY RIGHT-OF-WAY – The Johnston Street alley runs parallel to College Avenue just north of College between Superior Street and Appleton Street. A portion of this alley was never dedicated as a public right-of-way and is still private property. It is part of the old Chase Bank building parcel. The owner would like to dedicate that part of the alley as a public right-of-way; however, the building’s basement extends underneath that alley way, so a permanent street occupancy permit is needed for when that section of road becomes public property.
