Library Board Receives Update On Building Project And Final Items That Need To Be Taken Care Of

The Library Board met 05/20/2025. During the meeting they received a brief update on the building project.

I’ve prepared a transcript of the update such as it was:

Library Executive Director Colleen Rortvedt gave the board a rundown on items that had recently been completed and work that still remained.

RECENTLY COMPLETED  – The bulk of the exterior landscaping is done although a few additional plants may still be coming. The overhang of the front door was levelled. The concrete in the front of the building as been completed as has the surfacing in the Children’s Garden.

Inside the building wall touch ups and painting in the Welcome Hall and the Mary Beth Nienhaus Community Meeting Room have been completed. All of the smaller wall mounted donor plaques and raised letter signage have been installed.

STILL REMAINING – Outside the building, the entrance gate for the Children’s Garden as well as some exterior railing still needs to be installed.

Inside the building, hearing loops need to be installed in several areas, including the large community meeting room, the Cornerstone Conference room, and the service desks. Installation in the community meeting room was scheduled for the week of 05/26/2025, but was not yet scheduled for the conference room or the service desks.

The Donor Wall as well as donor signage that was suspended from the ceiling still needed to be installed.

Finally, the children’s area still needed several things including tops for the curved shelving units. The Learning Stairs needed to be resurfaced, and there were some furniture issues that she did not go into detail about.
