The Central Equipment Agency Review Committee is meeting 10/07/2024 at 4PM.
They have one item on their agenda which is a request from the Police Department to purchase an enclosed trailer for the police department’s Identification Unit.
Per the memo, the department’s current ID van/crime scene processing vehicle is 11 years old. It was originally slated for replacement in 2022 and continuing to use it is now “no longer sustainable as it does not meet the work or space needs for the Forensic Evidence Specialist.”
In 2022, the police department asked permission to retrofit the department’s former command post into a crime scene processing vehicle, but that has since proved to be infeasible.
The department would now like to purchase a 7.5’x14′ enclosed trailer and upfit it for use by the Identification Unit. Several other agencies have already done similar things. The cost of the purchase and upfitting is estimated to be $24,683. $22,169 was already designated for retrofitting the former command post, and the Police Department would use existing funds to cover anything above that.
