The Library Board is meeting 05/14/2024 at 1PM.
They will be voting on request to approve the April 2024 bill register, the e-rate expenses, appointments to the Library Board’s Nominating Committee, and the updated City of Appleton Vehicle Usage Policy.
They will also be receiving a number of information items including a building project update and trustee development training.
It looks like construction on the Library Project continues apace, with geothermal well drilling ongoing and various mechanical parts deliveries happening.
The focus of the trustee development will be on the social justice framework to develop public library services with underserved families. If the article attached to the agenda is any indication, the purpose of this training will be on “developing effective information services by collaborating with families that have been trapped in interlocking modes of systemic oppression and culturally constructed marginalization, and have directly experienced realities that public librarians have not.” [There are a lot of trendy buzzwords there; I’m sure the training will be informative and interesting.]
