Parks And Recreation Committee Approves Design Services Contract For Lundgaard Park Pavilion

The Parks and Recreation Committee met 01/22/2024. Most of the meeting was taken up with discussion about the proposed fee increases to rent Houdini Plaza, but the committee did also vote on a request to award a $66,500 contract to ISG for design and construction of the pavilion in Lundgaard Park. With a $5,000 contingency, the total amount of the contract was $71,500.

This item was approved unanimously with no discussion by the committee so a transcript is not needed. However, Director of Parks, Recreation, and Facilities Dean Gazza did tell the committee that Alderperson Sheri Hartzheim, the alderperson for District 13, where Lundgaard Park is located had asked him about the cost of the contract.

Director Gazza said the cost of the contract was attractive and not excessive. It was not a small pavilion but rather “It’s a shelter with plumbing, electrical, civil work, structural work. It ends up having permitting, stormwater permitting.” He believed the contract total was a favorable fee.
