Library Board Meeting 01/16/2024 – Will Receive Building Project Update, Undergo Trustee Training Regarding “Public Health 3.0”

The Library Board is meeting 01/16/2024 at 4:30PM.

They only have two fairly routine action items which are to approve the December 2023 bill register and a January 2024 budget amendment for $200.

They will be receiving a number of reports including a building project update, information on the APL website redesign project, and children’s program updates.

They will also be undergoing trustee development which will be focused on public health. It’s not clear to me what public health has to do with the library other than the trustee development is advocating for something called “Public Health 3.0” which apparently “engage[s] multiple sectors and community partners to generate collective impact,” and one would presume those multiple partners would include the library.

[I am sure expanding the focus of the public library to encompass community health will not result in budgetary problems or a decreased ability to perform the core function of a library which is to provide access to books and media.]
