Mayor Woodford To Present Five Proclamations At 11/01/2023 Common Council Meeting – Family Literacy Day, Small Business Saturday, High School DECA Week, Homeless Youth Prevention, And Native American Heritage Month

During the 11/01/2023 Common Council meeting, Mayor Woodford will be presenting 5 mayoral presentations.

With the first he proclaims November 1, 2023 to be Family Literacy Day in Appleton “to underscore the importance of literacy, celebrate the joy of reading, encourage residents to promote literacy by reading together with children, and to extend deep appreciation to our local librarians, educators, and literacy service providers and our local chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution for their tireless efforts to strengthen the literacy of our children and our community.”

With the second he proclaims November 25, 2023 to be Small Business Saturday in Appleton and urges “all Fox Cities residents to support small businesses and merchants on Small Business Saturday.”

With the third he proclaims October 30 – November 5, 2023 to be Appleton High Schools DECA Week in Appleton and encourages “residents, businesses, and organizations to become familiar with the services and benefits offered by Appleton’s high school DECA chapters, and to support and participate in these programs to prepare students for college and professional careers.”

With the fourth, he proclaims November 2023 to be Runaway and Homeless Youth Prevention Month in Appleton and encourages “all citizens to recognize the role we can all play in advocating for and providing safe alternatives to this vulnerable population of young people.”

With the fifth, he proclaims November 2023 to be Native American Heritage Month in Appleton and urges “all residents to observe this month with appropriate programs, ceremonies, and activities.”
