Mayor Woodford To Present 8 Proclamations At 09/06/2023 Common Council Meeting – Will Include Constitution Week, Diaper Need Awareness Week, Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, Hispanic Heritage Month

At the 09/06/2023 Common Council meeting, Mayor Woodford will be introducing 8 mayoral proclamations

With the first, he proclaims September 17 to be Day of Peace in Appleton and encourages “all citizens to participate in community events in celebration of the Day of Peace and to promote peace in our communities.”

With the second, he proclaims the week of September 17-23, 2023 to be Constitution Week in Appleton and encourages “all citizens to acquaint themselves with our Constitution, by vigilantly protecting and defending the freedoms guaranteed to us through this guardian of our liberties, remembering that lost rights may never be regained.”

With the third, he proclaims September to be Senior Center Month and encourages “all citizens to recognize the important contributions of senior centers in the Fox Cities, and to support the efforts of senior centers through philanthropy and volunteerism.”

With the fourth, the proclaims the week of September 18-24, 2023 to be Diaper Need Awareness Week in Appleton and encourages “citizens to donate generously to diaper banks, diaper drives, and support those organizations that collect and distribute diapers to families struggling with diaper need.”

With the fifth, he proclaims the week of September 18-24, 2023 to be Rail Safety Week in Appleton and encourages “all residents to recognize the importance of rail safety education.”

With the sixth, he proclaims September to be Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in Appleton and encourages “all citizens to observe Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and support research to cure this disease that so deeply impacts families in every community.”

With the seventh, he proclaims September 15 – October 15 to be Hispanic Heritage Month in Appleton and calls upon “residents to reflect on and honor the traditions and countless artistic, scientific, political, and cultural contributions of all Hispanic residents.”

With the eighth, he proclaims September to be Recovery Month in Appleton and encourages “ citizens to join in reaffirming our commitment to support prevention and recovery efforts. I also encourage students, faculty, and staff to participate in prevention education and activities, making a visible statement that our community is committed to our youth and their wellbeing.”
