Finance Committee Meeting 08/07/2023 – Will Vote On Sale Of $20.2 Million General Obligation Promissory Notes, Partial Refund Of Dental Associates’ Property Tax Payments For 2021 and 2022

The Finance Committee is meeting 08/07/2023 at 5:30PM.

They will be receiving a presentation from Brad Viegut, the city’s Baird representative, on the 2023 General Obligation Notes Sale. After that presentation, the committee will be voting on a request to approve the sale of $20.2 million of General Obligation Promissory Notes. This is an annual request that comes up. Last year they approved $15.5 million in General Obligation Promissory Notes and $11.5 million in Sewerage System Revenue Bonds.

They’ll also be voting on a request to award the 2023 Lundgaard Park Development Project contract to Vinton Construction as well as a request from Dental Associates on Evergreen Drive for a partial refund of 2021 and 2022 real estate property taxes in the amount of $21,326.18. Dental Associates has been contesting the assessed value of their property for a couple years and actually requested a refund last year which was denied. Dental Associates went to court and ended up getting their assessed value reduced during mediation. They now are requesting a refund for the amount of property tax that was paid based on the higher assessed value.

The committee will also be receiving several information items including the 2023 mid-year reports from Facilities and Construction Management and from Risk Management.

Not listed on the agenda is the reimbursement to St Joseph’s Cemetery for the maintenance of veterans’ graves that was referred back to committee during the 08/02/2023 Common Council meeting.
