Safety And Licensing Committee Holds Gold Cross Ambulance Service Agreement Until 08/09/2023 Meeting So Gold Cross Representatives Can Attend

The Safety and Licensing Committee met 07/26/2023. One of the items on the agenda was the Fire Department Ambulance Service Agreement With Gold Cross. This item had been discussed extensively at the 07/12/2023 committee meeting. One of the issues discussed was staffing levels on the ambulances and the number of paramedics versus emergency response technicians who would respond to calls. Maintaining staffing levels was a challenge nationwide. Gold Cross did have several ambulances that were staffed with two paramedics, but most of their ambulances only had one paramedic and one EMT. In spite of the concerns about staffing levels, the Safety and Licensing Committee did end up voting unanimously to recommend the agreement for approval. During the Common Council meeting on 07/19/2023 Alderperson William Siebers referred the item back to the Safety and Licensing Committee for further discussion, indicating he still had concerns about staffing levels.

The item ended up being put on hold until the 08/09/2023 committee meeting because representatives from Gold Cross were not able to attend the 07/26 meeting. The entire exchange took less than a minute, so I have not prepared a transcript.
