Board Of Education Meeting 07/24/2023 – Will Review Design Renderings Of Building Projects, Vote On Proposal To Name New Elementary School “Sandy Slope Elementary School”

They will be receiving a Referendum Update which includes design renderings of some of the building projects.

The Board will also be voting on a name for the new elementary school. It looks like the new school will be named Sandy Slope Elementary School. When the district purchased the land on which the school will be located, one of the items in the purchase agreement was a clause stating the “Buyer agrees to name any elementary school constructed on the property, Sandy Slope Elementary”. The District’s legal counsel has determined that that clause is valid “as long the school being built on the site is strictly an elementary school.” Additionally, informal feedback from community members on the proposed name has been positive.
