Finance Committee Unanimously Approves Bid Packages For Library Project

On 06/19/2023, the Finance Committee voted unanimously to approve the bid packages for the Library project. Video for the meeting has still not been posted, but the Post Crescent wrote an article that can be read here: https://www.postcrescent.com/story/news/local/2023/06/19/bids-for-appleton-public-library-fit-within-40-4-million-budget/70335475007/

Per the article, “The current accounting for the project shows revenues at $40.4 million and expenses at $40.35 million.” The project is currently planned to be paid for with $26.4 million in property taxes, $2 million in American Rescue Plan Act funds, and $12 million from the Friends of Appleton Public Library fundraising campaign. The Friends has already secured $8 million in pledges.

The one main issue remaining is the fact that no bids were made to drill the geothermal wells for the project. The city estimated that would cost $1.2 million.
