The Board of Health is meeting 06/14/2023 at 7AM.
They have no action items, but they will be reviewing several information items, which consist of the Quarter 1 Health Department report, the June newsletter, new noise variances, and a prohibited animal declaration.
Per the Quarter 1 report, communicable diseases look like they are up slightly compared to this time last year.

The prohibited animal declaration is somewhat interesting. During the 05/10/2023 Board of Health meeting, the board reviewed a number of dangerous animal declarations. One of those was for a husky named Ghost that had attacked other dogs as well as a human across several incidents. As such, Ghost was declared a dangerous animal and his owner, Sean, was ordered to comply with Section 3-132 of the city’s municipal code, which essentially requires dangerous animals to be leashed and muzzled any time they are not securely confined indoors or in a securely enclosed and locked pen or kennel that is located on the premises of the owner or caretaker.

Apparently, Sean broke those restrictions. He changed the dog’s name from Ghost to “Sasha” and confirmed that he took Ghost/Sasha walking without putting a muzzle on the dog. As a result of not following the rules for a dangerous animal, Ghost/Sasha has now been declared a prohibited animal and is no longer allowed within the City of Appleton.
