The Human Resources and Information Technology Committee is meeting 05/24/2023.
They have one action item on the agenda which is a request to adjust the overtime pay rate for Police Lieutenants and Captains. Previously, when lieutenants and captains worked overtime on certain duties such as providing off-duty police services, major case investigations, and SWAT incidents, they were paid time and a half based on the top senior sergeant rate. This change would allow them to be paid an overtime rate based on each individual employee’s own base hourly rate. It would also at transports, time in court, and prisoner guard duty to the list of activities they could receive overtime pay for.
As information items, the committee will receive an update on changes to the city’s Fringe Benefit Policy as the most recent recruitment status report.
