Parks And Recreation Committee Meeting 02/06/2023 – Will Vote On Jones Park Special Events, “Images That Define Appleton” Contest Winners

The Parks and Recreation Committee is meeting 02/06/2023 at 6:30PM. The agenda does not appear to be very heavy.

The two action items consist of voting on a request by WI JAM, LLC to hold ticketed, private special events in Jones Park on June 3, 2023 and July 8, 2023. Per the memo, “It is an American-Indie Rock Musical Festival with an anticipated turnout of 700-1,000 people. Because they are charging attendees a fee to attend the event, the Committee will need to approve both SOL Dance and Sky Dance.”

The committee will also be voting to approve the pictures that the Public Arts Committee chose as the winning entries to the “Images That Define Appleton” photo contest.

In addition to the two action items, the committee will also be receiving two information items. The first is an update on Appleton parks projects. Presumably this will include information on the status of the Trout Museum’s proposal for Ellen Kort Peace Park.

The second is a 2022 review of the Vulcan Hydroelectric Replica that sits on Lawe Street across from the Metamorphosis sculpture near the Lawe Street bridge.
