Arrested Atlanta Forest Autonomous Zone Protester Child Of Lawrence University Professor

The Atlanta Forest Autonomous Zone has been in the news recently after a protester shot a law enforcement officer and was then killed by authorities.

The autonomous zone was set up in June of 2021 and has been in the news off and on since then.

The Atlanta Forest Autonomous Zone has a slight connection to Appleton. In a recent article for the New York Post, reporter Andy Ngo outlines the privileged backgrounds of some of the protesters arrested in connection with the autonomous zone and notes that one of the individuals arrested during an incident on May 17, 2022 was Madeleine “Matthias” Gunther Kodat, the child of Catherine Gunther Kodat the former Provost and Dean of Faculty at Lawrence University. He also posted about this on Twitter in May of 2022.

A quick check of LinkedIn, indicates, that Catherine Gunther Kodat was Provost and Dean of Faculty at Lawrence until June of 2022 and is still an English professor at Lawrence, currently on sabbatical.

For those interested, Any Ngo posted a video back in May of 2022 discussing the autonomous zone in Atlanta and some of the violent incidents involving the protesters.

Additionally, the Unicorn Riot website posted about the May 17 incident from a perspective more sympathetic to the protesters.
