During Safety And Licensing Committee Clerk Lynch Reviews Voting Details For November 8 General Election

The Safety and Licensing Committee met 09/28/2022. During the meeting City Clerk Kami Lynch provided the committee with a brief update on the upcoming November 8th election.

She said that her office had absentee ballots ready and were mailing them out. They had mailed out over 5,000 as of 09/28/2022.

In-person absentee voting would not start until Tuesday, October 25, and once it started it would go on for 2 weeks (ending Friday, November 4). She noted that this year they were trying out offering some Saturday hours. In-person absentee voting would be available Saturday, October 29 from 9AM to 2PM.

She reminded voters that voted absentee by mail that it was very important to completely fill out the highlighted areas on the certificate envelope.  That was one of the easiest areas that was missed, and if it was not filled out correctly her office would have to send the ballot back to the voter. If the voter could get it right the first time, that was ideal.

She also suggested that voters who hadn’t voted in an election this year to check https://myvote.wi.gov to make sure their polling place hadn’t changed. Her office had sent out letters to residents whose polling place had changed, but it was good to go to the website to review things.

She also said that the City of Appleton had recently updated its election site to make it more visually appealing. There was a lot of important information on that page that could help voters find out where they could vote, how to register to vote, and how to request an absentee ballot.
