The Community and Economic Development Committee is meeting 09/28/2022 at 4:30PM. They have two items on the agenda.
The first is a request to approve a resolution authorizing the submittal of a $250,000 grant application to Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation on behalf of Urbane 115 LLC for their development at 115 E. Washington Street. This is for the Merge LLC apartment development on Washington Street across from the library. This development was initially approved by the Common Council in August of 2021 and was intended to be built in two phases. Phase one would be a 56 unit building on the site of the former Conway Hotel, and phase two would be on the site of the former Blue parking ramp. It looks like this grant application request pertains to the 56-unit phase 1 building.
The second item is a request to approve an amendment to the development agreement with MF Housing Partners for the Rise Apartments Development on Oneida, Harris, and N Appleton Streets. It’s not clear to me exactly what the amendment is about. The memo states the “amendments are in response to the changing environments of interest rates and construction costs rising, supply chain challenges, and labor shortages,” but exactly what the amendments are I can’t tell.
