Two Resolutions Introduced At 08/03/2022 Common Council Meeting – One Would Create A Sustainability And Resiliency Advisory Committee, The Other Would Explore Removing The Truck Route Designation From Lawe Street North Of College Avenue

Two resolutions were introduced during the 08/03/2022 Common Council meeting.

Resolution 9-R-22, the Sustainability Resolution, is cosponsored by Alderpersons Denise Fenton (District 6) and Kristine Alfheim (District 11). If passed it would create an advisory panel on sustainability and climate resilience which would “act as an advisory group to the mayor, city department Directors, and the Common Council providing feedback and advice on a range of matters related to sustainability, climate action, and resiliency.”

It was referred to the Parks and Recreation Committee

Resolution 10-R-22, the Alternate Lawe Street Truck Route Resolution, is cosponsored by Alderpersons Vered Meltzer (District 2) and Israel Del Toro (District 4). If passed it would “explore removing the Truck Route designation from Lase Street between College Avenue and Hancock Street and finding an alternate route for truck traffic to travel north and south.”

Because discussions regarding the reconstruction of Lawe Street have not gotten underway yet, this resolution was referred to the Department of Public Works rather than a committee. [Presumably, when it does appear before a committee it will come in front of the Municipal Services Committee.]
