AASD To Discontinue Covid-19 Mitigation Protocols Starting 06/06/2022

In a letter sent to families on 05/27/2022, the Appleton Area School District indicated that it will be discontinuing its current Covid-19 protocols and no longer maintaining its Covid-19 dashboard as of 06/06/2022.

They state, “With summer school being at a time in which more ventilation can be leveraged as well as outdoor learning spaces utilized, it is an appropriate time to resume our more traditional approach to student illness and injury care.”

AASD Family Communication 05/27/2022

Last year AASD discontinued masking requirements during the summer semester and then reinstated them for the fall semester. From the communication, it is not entirely clear if these current changes will only apply to the summer semester or if they will continue into the 2022-23 school year. I have reached out to AASD for further clarification as to whether this is a complete and permanent removal of the Covid-19 protocols or if there will be Covid mitigation protocols in place for the upcoming school year.
