Coronavirus Numbers For 01/28/2022 – 01/30/2022

There is much good news regarding Covid cases in Appleton. Cases continue to decrease and our weekly case total is lower than it was the last week of December when numbers first really started to spike. Over the weekend from 01/28/2022 to 01/30/2022 Appleton recorded 157 confirmed coronavirus cases and 44 probable cases. Active cases rose by 31 to 188. Cases out of isolation increased by 170 to 20,409. Deaths remained unchanged at 80.

Appleton’s current 7-day running average of confirmed and probable cases is 72.43 points above where it was on this day last year, but it continues to drop precipitously and decreased by 318 points over the last three days. Appleton currently has 188 active cases as compared to 498 on this day last year. Between March 18, 2020 (the day of Appleton’s first recorded case) to January 30, 2021 Appleton recorded 57 deaths with/from coronavirus and had a deathrate per known confirmed and probable cases of 0.78%. This compares to 17 such deaths during that same timeframe from 2021-2022 and a deathrate during that time of 0.14%.

Over the last week, Appleton recorded a total of 526 confirmed cases and 159 probable cases. The week before that we had 907 confirmed cases and 314 probable cases. Our total case count this most recent week is only 56% of the total case count the week before. Our 2 week burden per 100,000 residents calculates out to 1,911 when using only confirmed cases or 2,541 when including probable case counts. Both of these are still in the “Critically High” burden category but have decreased markedly from the week before. Our weekly case count is now below where it was the week of 12/27/2021-01/2/2022.

Since Appleton’s first recorded case on March 18, 2020, 27.57% of Appleton’s approximately 75,000 residents are known to have had a confirmed or probable cases of coronavirus. 0.11% have died with or from coronavirus. 1/4th of 1% currently have an active case. 72.43% are not known to have had covid.
