Common Council Meeting 12/01/2021

The Common Council is meeting 12/01/2021 at 7PM.

There aren’t that many items on the agenda. Only items from the Municipal Services Committee, the City Plan Commission, and the Finance Committee will be before the Council, and the things they took up were all pretty routine. The item that engendered the most discussion in committee was the decrease of the speed limit on the one block section of Washington Street between Story and Bennet streets. That discussion was only nominally related to the item per se and had more to do with overall policy concerns related to notifying alderpersons and residents of proposed speed changes.

There is a public hearing regarding the one item from the City Plan Commission which is a proposal to rezone the recent Spartan Drive Annexation from Temporary AG Agricultural District of P-I Public Institutional District. This is a straightforward rezoning aimed at allowing the city to install a road on that section of land.

The main item that took up the most recent Finance Committee meeting was the Library Project update which was an information item. The action items were fairly straightforward contract awards or amendments.

It is possible that no items on the agenda will be separated out for individual votes. We’ll have to wait and see.

The Council will also be voting on Ordinances #78-21 and #79-21.

The first ordinance is related to the rezoning of the Spartan Drive annexation and the second would remove the one hour parking restriction currently in place on Atlantic Street west of Lawe Street.

In addition to the items to be voted on, Mayor Woodford will be presenting the Public Health Thank You Day Proclamation and the Common Council will receive a Covid 19 Update.
