Public Arts Committee Chooses Photos From Rhythms Of The World Event To Fill Houdini Plaza Welcome Tower

The Public Arts Committee met 11/03/2021. One of the items on their agenda was to determine how to fill the Houdini Plaza Welcome Tower. They had discussed the item at their previous meeting but made no final determination and came to this meeting with the intention of deciding whether to fill it entirely with photos from the Rhythms of the World event, or entirely with photos chosen via a photo contest, or with some photos from Rhythms of the World and others chosen via a contest.

They ultimately decided to fill the tower entirely with photos from Rhythms of the World and hold a photo contest sometime in the future. The committee selected 18 photos as their top choices, and, per the minutes, committee member “Catherine McKenzie volunteered to photo shop to see which of these 18 photos would work for the 12 spaces in the tower.”

[I think if I had to narrow it down I’d go with 35, 39, 42, 44, 52, 55, 58, 61, 67, 7297, 7400, 7503, 7570. That’s 13, not 12, so I’d discard whichever one looked the worst when cropped to a square. In my opinion 7297 has the most energy of all the photos and is really fun, and 7503 must go up at all cost because it has a cute toddler in it. Which pictures would you choose?]
