The Public Arts Committee is meeting 10/06/2021 at 8:30 AM.
They have one action item on the agenda which is to determine the selection process for new artwork to be placed in the Houdini Square Welcome Tower. During the meeting in August, the committee had decided to hold a new community photo contest with the theme of Diversity; however, a new option has come up.
The Rhythms of the World event was held in September and the organizers hired a professional photographer to take pictures. Last year, the Public Arts Committee had planned to put Rhythm of the World photos in the Welcome Tower, but that fell through due to the pandemic. Per the memo, if the committee decides to use Rhythm of the World photos instead of going forward with a community photo contest, staff may be able “to swap out the images before the weather gets too cold. Once the temperature falls, it can be difficult (or not feasible) to change out the tower images.”
The committee needs to decide whether they want to move forward with the photo contest or use Rhythm of the World photos instead.
