AASD Board Of Education Holding Work Session 09/30/2021 – Will Review District Goals For Upcoming Year Including Plan To Implement Culturally And Linguistically Responsive Practices In All AASD Classrooms

The Appleton Area School District Board of Education is holding a work session 09/30/2021 at 7:30 AM.

They will be reviewing the district’s score card for the 2020-21 school year and then establishing the score card goals for the 2021-22 school year. The draft proposal indicates that, during the upcoming year, the District plans to implement Culturally & Linguistically Responsive (CLR) strategies and practices within all AASD classrooms.

Amongst many other things, they also plan to:

  • Increase the overall percentage of students scoring proficient/advanced or at or above grade level by 1% from 2021 to 2022.
  • Reduce the achievement gap between Black/White English Learners/Non-English Learns, and Students With Disabilities/Students Without Disabilities in literacy and mathematics on various assessments by 3% from 2021 to 2022.
  • Complete Root Cause Analysis and implement Plan Do Study Act Cycles for addressing achievement the above-mentioned achievement gaps.

[Although not listed as a goal, I, personally, will be curious to see if AASD can get the number of high school students receiving Ds and Fs down below the 2018-19 levels.]
