Over the weekend from 09/24/2021-09/26/2021 Appleton recorded 68 confirmed cases and 30 probable cases. (The dashboard only showed the daily numbers for 09/26/2021, not the entire weekend.) Active cases rose by 94 to 288. Cases out of isolation increased by 4 to 9,974. Deaths remained unchanged at 68.
Appleton’s current 7-day running average of confirmed cases is 20.14 and of confirmed and probable cases combined is 32.86. This compares to a 7-day running average of confirmed cases on this day last year of 42.14. (Appleton only started recording probable cases as of 11/23/2020.) Appleton’s current active case count stands at 288 as compared to 408 on this day last year. Last year between March 18 (the day of Appleton’s first recorded coronavirus case) and September 26, Appleton recorded 9 deaths with/from coronavirus, as compared to 5 during that same time frame this year. Last year in that March 18-Sept. 26 time frame Appleton had 1,496 confirmed cases which would place the death rate at 0.6%. This year during that time frame we’ve had 1,504 cases which would place the death rate at 0.3%.
Last week, Appleton had a total of 141 confirmed cases and 89 probable cases for a combined total of 230. The week before that, we had 188 confirmed cases and 70 probable. Using those numbers, Appleton’s 2 week burden rate per 100,000 people is 439 if calculated using only confirmed cases and 651 if including probable case also. Both of those fall into the “Very High” burden rate category.
As of 09/26/2021, since the start of the pandemic 18 months ago, only 13.77% of Appleton’s residents are known to have had a case of coronavirus. 86.23% of Appleton’s residents have either not had coronavirus or have had such mild cases of coronavirus that they have not needed to be tested. Currently only 0.4% of Appleton’s residents are known to have an active case of coronavirus.
