Transit Commission Meeting Scheduled For 04/27/2021

The Fox Cities Transition Commission is meeting 04/27/2021 at 3pm.

Among the items they will be voting on are

(1) Awarding the Design Contract for the 2021 Valley Transit Whitman Avenue Facility Renovation Project to Kueny, LLC. Kueny, LLC is proposing $6.5 TO $7.6 million in additions and renovations to that facility. When the Commission reviewed the CARES grants they received it sounded as if there was the potential for that money to be used to upgrade the Whitman Avenue facility eventhough that project would not be Covid related.

(2) Issuing a purchase order for 5-New Flyer Xcelsior Buses. The five buses would cost $2.6 million.

(3) Establishing a Free-Fare for “Service Connected” Disabled Veterans. Currently, disabled veterans qualify for reduced price fare on Valley Transit buses, but this would allow them to ride free of charge as the Oshkosh and Green Bay transit systems already allow.

They will also be reviewing the ridership numbers for February and March. March’ 2021’s numbers are down compared to the 2020 numbers. The pandemic response started in the middle of March of 2020, so we’re getting closer to being able to compare two months that were both fully in the pandemic.
