Mayor Seeking Feedback On Diversity, Equity, And Inclusion Coordinator Position

As posted last week, the city of Appleton is seeking a new Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Coordinator. The article on the city website announcing Karen Nelson’s departure stated that “Mayor Woodford plans to gather input from community partners who represent various, diverse groups in Appleton and, as always, welcomes input from the public on this process.”

I was curious as to who those community leaders were, so I reached out to the Mayor’s office. Per Mayor Woodford, there’s not really a list or formal process for gathering input. He has been gathering feedback both via emails and office hours and by talking to counterparts and colleagues in the community. He does want feedback on this to make sure that Appleton is appropriately meeting the needs of the community.

So, it sounds like the floor is wide open and we all are the community leaders he’s seeking feedback from. If you would like to give your thoughts on the position and the community needs you would like it to address, you can reach the mayor via the online feedback form here: https://www.appleton.org/govern…/mayor-s-office/contact-us

  1. If you can’t point to any accomplishments then perhaps nothing is being accomplished by maintaining this position.
