The coronavirus numbers for Saturday 01/30/2021 were finally posted. There were 13 new confirmed cases and 7 new probable cases. Active cases rose by 9. Cases out of isolation increased by 11. There were no new deaths.
This last week, Appleton finally cracked the 10% mark for the percentage of the population known to have had coronavirus. Health Officer Eggebrecht has stated on multiple occasions that 40% of people who get this don’t know they have it and probably aren’t getting tested. If that’s the case the total number of appleton residents who have it could be as high as 12,623 (7,574 ÷ 6 × 10). That would mean 16.8% of Appleton residents have had coronavirus.
The death rate based off of confirmed cases currently stands at 0.77%. If you base it off the higher inferred case count it drops to 0.46%.
