Common Council Meeting 02/16/2022 – Mayor Will Recommend Retiring Finance Director Be Replaced With Deputy Director, Present Certificates Of Appreciation To Finance Director Tony Saucerman And Interim Health Officer Sonja Jensen

The Common Council is meeting 02/16/2022 at 7PM.

One never knows for sure which action items if any will be separated out for individual votes. There aren’t a lot of items on the agenda that garnered much discussion during committee meetings. Resolution 2-R-22 which would reallocate the city brand study funds for other purposes was held until the March 8 Finance Committee so will not be taken up by the Common Council until some point after that.

The Utilities Committee spent the bulk of their meeting discussing a water bill credit adjustment for a resident, and, while that item did pass, it did not pass unanimously, so it is possible that it will be discussed separately by the Common Council.

The mayor does have a number of business items to present.

He will be making a recommendation for a new Finance Director to fill the position vacated by current Finance Director Tony Saucerman who is retiring March 1st. Mayor Woodford is recommending that the position be given to Jeri A. Ohman who has served as a Deputy Director in the Appleton’s Finance Department since 2018 and has over 20 years of municipal finance experience.

Mayor Woodford will also be presenting certificates of appreciation to Interim Health Officer Sonja Jensen and retiring Finance Director Tony Saucerman.

He will also be recommending that Christine Bruen be appointed to the Police and Fire Commission to fill the remainder of a 5-year term that expires May 2025.

There will also be a Covid-19 Report. [Our numbers have been looking very good recently. (https://allthingsappleton.com/2022/02/14/coronavirus-numbers-for-02-09-2022-02-13-2022/)]
