On 01/05/2022 Appleton recorded 162 confirmed coronavirus cases and 50 probable cases. Active cases still dropped by 21 to 172 while cases out of isolation rose by 233 to 15,349. Deaths remained unchanged at 78.
The 7-day running average of new cases is still, obviously, up markedly from this time last year and is 52 points higher for confirmed cases and 81 points for confirmed and probable cases combined. Active cases are still down quite a bit at 172 this year compared to 596 last year. Deaths are down considerably this year as compared to last year. Last year between March 18 (the day of Appleton’s first recorded case) and January 5, Appleton recorded 52 deaths with/from coronavirus as compared to only 15 such deaths during that same timeframe this year. As an item of interest, if the death rate this year were the same as the deathrate at this time last year, we would have had 60 deaths between March 18, 2021 and January 5, 2022, but we are only at 15 right now.
