Coronavirus Numbers For 01/03/2021

On 01/03/2022 Appleton recorded 49 confirmed coronavirus cases and 15 probable cases. In spite of the sharp increase in cases Appleton has experienced over the last several days, active cases have dropped by 38 to 192 while cases out of isolation have increased by 129 to 15,008. [My assumption is the marked change in both those numbers is related to the CDC’s recent changes regarding isolation guidelines decreasing isolation recommendations from 10 to 5 days.] Deaths remained unchanged at 78.

The 7-day running average for new cases is obviously still markedly higher this year as compared to last year at this time. For confirmed cases it’s around 45 points higher and for confirmed and probable cases combined is approximately 65 points higher. Appleton currently has 192 active cases as compared to 649 on this day last year. Last year between March 18 (the day of Appleton’s first recorded case) and January 3 Appleton recorded 52 deaths with/from coronavirus as compared to only 15 such deaths during that same timeframe this year.
