During the 04/28/2021 Safety and Licensing Committee meeting in which the committee took up the Resolution Condemning Xenophobia, Racism, and Violence Against The Asian Pacific Islander Desiamerican (APIDA) Community, Kathy Flores of Diverse and Resilient and Peter Kelly President of the United Way Fox Cities had pointed to the racial attitudes and environment within the Fox Cities as the reason that Kimberly Clark was moving 250 positions to Chicago.
Kimberly Clark has released a statement to WHBY which would seem to contradict those assertions.
Kimberly-Clark’s decision to move more than 250 positions in sales, marketing, executive management and other commercial functions to Chicago was a business decision to put our commercial teams in closer proximity to our customers, business partners and agencies. More than 2,500 jobs will remain in the state of Wisconsin, and the majority of those jobs will be at the Kimberly-Clark North American Innovation, Technology and Supply Center in Neenah.”
Kimberly Clark’s statement to WHBY on the reasons why they are moving 250 jobs to Chicago (05/05/2021)
I have heard from KC employees involved with the move to Chicago that it also puts the company closer to the talent pool of young creatives to work on the products. Never in any of the conversations was race mentioned.
That’s some nice additional information to know. It also makes a lot of sense.
