During the 05/05/2021 Common Council meeting, Mayor Woodford will be presenting 6 separate Mayoral Proclamations.
1. He proclaims the month of May 2021 as Nurses Month and called “upon all citizens to join me in honoring the registered nurses who care for all of us, celebrate their accomplishments and efforts to improve the health care system, and show appreciation for their work in our community.”

2. He also proclaims the month of May 2021 as Asian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month and urges “all citizens to honor Asian American and Pacific Islanders in our community, celebrate their heritage, and promote a culture of dignity and respect for all people in our community.”

3. He proclaims May 2-8, 2021 as Municipal Clerks Week and extends “appreciation to our Municipal Clerk, Kami Lynch, and to all Municipal Clerks for the vital services they perform and their dedication to the communities they represent.”

4. He proclaims May 9-15, 2021 as Police Week and calls “upon all citizens of Appleton and upon all civic organizations to observe this week with appropriate ceremonies commemorating police officers, past and present who by their faithful and loyal devotion to their responsibilities have rendered a dedicated service to their community.”

5. He proclaims May 5, 2021 as “Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls Day of Awareness in Appleton to commemorate the lives of missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls and call attention to the many missing and murdered Native women and girls, as well as those who have experienced violence and assault, and resolve to act to prevent further victimization.”

6. He proclaims May 3-7 as Teacher Appreciation Week and encourages “all citizens to join me in personally expressing appreciation to our teachers for their dedication and devotion to their work.”
