Fiber Rain Event Postponed; Health Department Cites Concerns About Rising Cases

It seems that the Fiber Rain yarn bomb event has been delayed due to the Appleton Health Department’s concern about increasing coronavirus cases. Appleton Downtown Inc had been planning to kick off this even on April 16, and it would have featured “one-of-a-kind yarn-creations displayed on planters, way-finding signage, light poles, and more! These pieces will brighten the downtown sidewalks with their clever designs that will also brighten your day.”

However, the ADI representative who spoke at the Public Arts Committee meeting yesterday stated that they spoke with the Health Department on 04/05/2021, and the Health Department advised them to not hold that even in April. Per the ADI representative, the Health Department referenced an increase in cases and wanted to delay any potential for community gathering.
As a result, Appleton Downtown Inc will be combining Fiber Rain with their Garden Art event currently scheduled for May 21.
