One resolution was submitted during the 06/04/2025 Common Council meeting by Alderpersons Patrick Hayden (District 7), Katie Van Zeeland (District 5), and Alex Schultz (District 9).
Resolution 4-R-25 indicates that the existing Veteran’s Park in the city is going to be renamed and calls (1) for Memorial Park to be renamed “Veteran’s Memorial Park”, (2) for a plan to be created to relocate select existing memorials to the park, (3) for a plan to be created to add memorials that currently do not exist for recent conflicts, and (4) for an appropriate renaming and dedication ceremony to be held.
The resolution, if passed, will also serve as a statement “that the City of Appleton reaffirms its ongoing commitment to honoring veterans and preserving their legacy for future generations.”
The resolution will be taken up by the Parks and Recreation Committee at its next meeting, currently scheduled for 06/09/2025.
