The Appleton Area School District Board of Education is meeting 05/12/2025 at 6PM.
They will be voting on the purchase of various materials for English Language Arts and Social Studies.
They will also be voting on a request to name the new West High School indoor PE/practice facility the “Claudine and Jim Happel Indoor Sports Facility” for 25 years in honor of the $250,000 they are willing to donate to the project.
Other action items include approval of updates to the Administration of Drug Products policy and the School Wellness Policy.
As an information item they will be discussing ways to address the District’s budget deficit. During the 2023-2024 school year AASD had a deficit of over $12 million. For the 2024-2025 school year they approved a budget with a built in $11 million deficit. They did this knowing they had a fund balance that could cover the deficit but that is only a short term solution and they need to come up with new strategies.
Additionally, they will be receiving updates on the referendum projects and the Columbus/Edison transition.
